What is Microneedling?

Micro-needling is an innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and the improvement of the skin’s texture, tone, and color. The Micropen device involves the use of 12 surgical grade tiny needles to create micro-channels (microscopic wounds) in the skin’s surface. The punctures promote an internal healing process for overall lasting skin rejuvenation.

Who is a candidate for the MicroPen?

If you are concerned about fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars and/or skin texture, you are a candidate. This treatment is safe for most skin types.

What does the treatment feel like?

While some areas are more sensitive than others, most people generally compare the sensation to sandpaper being moved across the skin. A topical anesthetic can be applied to the skin prior to treatment to minimize discomfort.

How long does the procedure take?

Once the treatment begins, it typically takes 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated.

What will my skin look like afterward?

Some pinpoint bleeding can be expected immediately post treatment followed by redness which typically subsides after 2-3 days depending on the depth of treatment. Some patients may opt for a more aggressive treatment depending on their concerns.

How many treatments will I need?

Patients often opt for light MicroPen treatments every 1-2 months simply out of desire to maintain their appearance. However, if your goal is to resolve specific skin irregularities, a series of 3+ treatments every 4-6 weeks may be more effective.

When will I see results?

You will see a “glow” as soon as the treatment is finished and visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several weeks. Results continue to improve up to six months after treatment.
